The Pilot Project Program furthers EaRTH's goals by offering awards to:
- support diverse researchers and exploratory research projects
- stimulate innovation
- invite new expertise
- nucleate new interdisciplinary teams
- bolster early-stage investigators
As of early 2024, EaRTH's Pilot Project Program has built a robust ecosystem of researchers and a strong portfolio of research projects through 21 awards including 14 Pilot Projects, 6 Mentored Awards, and a community partnership award.
Learn About EaRTH's Pilot Project Program Funding Opportunities
The Pilot Award allows new or established faculty to rapidly transfer skills and developments from other research areas to the arena of environmental health research. This award is generally offered during the Fall UCSF RAP cycle.
The Mentored Scientist Award and the Mentored Postdoctoral Scholar Award is specifically for early-stage investigators and postdocs and supports innovative research projects and provide career and mentoring in environmental health research.
The Mentored Clinician Award is administered jointly with the Community Engagement Core and provides dedicated time for a clinician to gain experience in environmental health.

The Community Partnership Pilot Award is administered jointly with the Community Engagement Core and provides support to community-initiated projects in environmental health research and translation, education, and outreach addressing needs defined by the community working with a UCSF academic partner.
